On my way from work to home

Was it love at first sight?

No, i wasn’t interested in dating at that time

What attracted you to each other?

He always made time for me and he kept his promise also he keeps time

Why did you get married?

I wanted the freedom to be with someone i love and since I’m a Christian, marriage was the only way i knew how

How did he propose?

He just told me he wants to marry me and asked me to tell my family

How has marriage changed you?

It hasn’t really changed me

What has marriage taught you?

It has taught me submission, compromise and I’ve learnt to listen and pray more. I also know when to give him space.

What do you love most about being married?

The attention i receive, the love, the respect, the acknowledgement and appreciation he shows me

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in your marriage and how did you overcome them?

Being married into a different culture was a challenge at first because i had to prove to my in-laws that i can perform household duties contrary to what they believed since im form joburg. Also, hubby leaving clothes lying around everywhere was a challenge, but i always address it when we are in a good space

What do you mostly fight about?

That I talk too much 😂

What irritates you about each other?

I’m talkative and he’s very quiet.

How do you keep love alive?

By kissing and being intimate
Breakfast dates
Nights out
And sending our kids to their grandparents so we can spend time alone 😋

What do you do for fun together?

We run, we work out, we go to the park with our kids, we walk to the shops instead of driving.

What do you think is the reason for people to not believe in the institution of marriage?

It’s difficult for me to answer this because i believe in this institution but what i can say is that love alone is not enough as people assume, both parties must be willing to make it work and if there’s no willingness it won’t work out

What advice do you have for people intending to get married?

Be willing to be selfless in your love for each other. Marriage is wonderful but its up to you to make it a wonderful experience. Also, do you, don’t try to imitate or compete with others, create your own unique and beautiful bond. Learn from others but don’t copy them
