GDF Hails Caring Rapper Kwesta For Donating His Sneakers
As the Green Development Foundation (GDF) is turning old and unwanted donated shoes into clean shoe pot plants to raise funds, acclaimed rapper Senzo Vilakazi affectionately known as Kwesta Dakar recently donated three pairs of his expensive shoes, including a personalized brand into this charitable cause.
The planting of flowers in shoes is part of GDF’s ‘walk the hope’ campaign which is among a few avenues to solicit funds from the public through selling the shoes for R50 at various markets they attend.
The funds raised from this project will be used to help struggling community members that were heavily affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
The targeted communities are Clayoven, Msawawa, Kysands, Lion Park, Eskom (Itsoseng), Plot89, Video, Tshesampama, Diepsloot, Honeydew, Laezonia, Bridge, Cultera, which all were identified due to their obvious poverty conditions.
GDF CEO, Farai Mupingo expressed the following sentiments after the Spirit hitmaker’s selfless gesture. “We are thankful and proud of Kwesta for putting his hand up and making a stand for the hungry children of South Africa and the future generation’s wellbeing. He is truly a living legend and a historic icon of our time,” he said.
The popular rapper has become a household name in the South African music scene. His versatility has proven to be a perfect fit in any genre he spits a rhyme on. Like the GDF campaigns, Kwesta has always been consistent with his music career – despite being a family man and running his own record company, RapLyF. He definitely serves a symbol of hope.
To ‘walk the hope’ like Kwesta, all you need is to donate your unwanted shoes and get them delivered on 23 Monument Road in Kempton Park.
