Lizz Kalo Releases Y.O.U – A Journey of Love & Heartache

The R&B Singer and Songwriter Lizz Kalo is releasing an EP titled Your Own Understanding. Your Own Understanding is about how everything we go through or experience in relationships or individually is subject to perspective but still relatable. It was inspired by her own experiences and the experiences of the people around her. The songs explore different ways to deal with heartache, using different scenarios from song to song.

Incorporating influences from South Africa’s new wave sound to R&B and Afro Pop, the EP is unique in its own way. “My music is about the world through my eyes, my interpretation of different ideas and experiences e.g love, pain, dreams and hope” said Lizz Kalo. Set to release on 06 November 2020 on all digital platforms.

In the project, you get to hear sounds from guitarist T10, poet Anga Mamfanya, and beat maker Phreaky, as well as Pianist/beat maker Vince La muzika, Rapper Genoside and the Executive Producer who helped bring it all together Auth3ntiC.

Elizabeth Kapenda (born March, 21, 1996) known by her stage name, Lizz Kalo, is a South African Neo-Soul/RnB singer and songwriter. She grew up in Kempton Park, in the East Rand of Johannesburg

Her family’s exposure to different places and culture introduced her to varieties of sounds across Africa and even the world from a very young age. She familiarized herself with genres like Jazz, Reggae, Soul and Hip hop music. Artists that spoke to her and inspired her were inclusive but not limited to Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Brenda Fassie, Fela Kuti, Tshala Muana and many more.
