The Story Of A Model

Mxolisi Hamilton Hlophe, 182 cm tall fashion model and a graduate from University of Kwazulu- Natal with Honours degree in Social work.

Being a male model is very difficult, especially when you come from a family who does not understand and has little knowledge about modelling. Discrimination, unfair treatment and nepotism is what we face in  modeling agency, said Mxolisi, but if you love something and have passion for it, you fight for your belonging, be strong and believe in yourself.

As a fashion model, its important to  believe in yourself be able to give an outstanding performance, be bright, stand your ground  and be ready for any obstacles and a fast thinker. Being an independent model is a good option because joining a modeling agency can make or break one’s career.

Fashion shows and pageants are the only platforms we get to showcase ourselves and display our modeling techniques.

Every industry has nepotism and it exists even in the fashion industry. There are always issues of unfair judging in fashion shows and competitions and it is a major challenge in the industry. Hopefully one day equality and fairness will be the order of the day, he said. Modeling boosts one’s self esteem and confidence.
