No

What attracted you to each other?

Life stories, humility, kindness towards each other

Why did you get married?

We received God’s confirmation.

How did he propose?

On my birthday with a ring hidden inside a gift.

How has marriage changed you?

I’m more considerate and aware of my social and environmental surroundings beyond my own aspirations and concerns

What has marriage taught you?

That love is perfected in Christ

What do you love most about being married?

Walking the journey of life with a true companion and have gotten to understand God in a better way as well

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in your marriage and how did you overcome them?

Miscommunication can happen easily, so I’ve needed to seek to understand my partner more than to seek to be understood first

What do you mostly fight about?

Not really fight, but it would be mainly misunderstandings in communication in general

What irritates you about each other?

Nothing really, I’d say we have a healthy relationship with mutual respect. So with that, i try to avoid anything that would irritate her

By spending time with each other, going out when we can and having a sense of humour

Eat out, watch movies and other things I’d rather not mention here 😝

What do you think marriage is?

A covenant between people and God, as ordained by God

What makes marriage work?

Complete commitment to each other, serving each other’s interests and both people being committed to God

What makes it fail?

One foot in and another out, which may lead to instances such as infidelity, neglect of your spouse, loss of interest etc

What do you think is the reason for people to not believe in the institution of marriage?

People no longer know how to fully commit to things, we live in an ever changing environment where so many things come and go quickly and not much is constant. People change partners constantly, change jobs constantly, change friends constantly, change interests all the time, over time we find that we no longer know how to commit to things or ideals. That habit can then creep into our behavior and psyche in marriage.

Do you think premarital counseling is important, why?

Yes it is, it provides a glimpse into uncharted territory between the couple and allows an objective convener to be a sound board for things that are difficult to be said and resolved and to uncover blind spots

Why do you think there is such a high rate of divorce?

Lack of commitment

What measures can be taken to break the high rate of divorce?

1 Corinthians 13 is good start

What do you think are the roles of husbands and wives in marriage?

Companionship and to aid each other to fulfill each other’s purpose in life as destined by God
