Jove Above and Beyond – Short film review

Jove Above is a Durban based rapper who recently released his 1st music video from his debut E.P ‘Murder In The Summer’ for a song titled ‘Single’ feat Rhys Fataar.

This 5 minute  video was written and directed by Jove himself. He’s recreational use of art allowed him  to reintroduce the topic of woman abuse in South Africa, in a very blunt yet unconventional way.

The imagery tackles themes of religion, love, unfaithfulness, and violence. All curated in fantasy and thrill.  My favorite part of the short film is when the two lovers meet in the after life. I found that very romantic and I know it’s what most people would wish for. The story line is very relatable and relative to things happening in the world right now. The concept is dope and the colors are so attractive to the eye. It is an epic short film and definitely worth the watch if I do say so myself.
