SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPANTS HONOURED AT COACHLAB AND GRADUATE TRAINEE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME GRADUATION

The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province honoured successful graduates on Wednesday, 17 October at the CoachLab® and Graduate Trainee Development Programme Graduation at The Innovation Hub, under the theme “Skills of Tomorrow. Today”.

The Innovation Hub CEO, Advocate Pieter Holl says that South Africa has been dealing with challenges of youth unemployment for a long time, our CoachLab Programme through working with our industry partners and academia  is one of the programmes that seeks to address these challenges ;  some of these youth  are graduates that are eager to develop themselves further   in order to become professionals and entrepreneurs who can contribute towards the economy of South Africa. “I wish to congratulate all the graduates and I wish them well in their future endeavors,” said Adv. Holl.

The CoachLab® Leadership Development Programme was established in 2001 and focuses on preparing graduates for the workplace through entrepreneurship and innovation training in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Engineering sectors. General Manager for Skills Development Mr. Tsietsi Maleho said CoachLab® has pioneered and successfully delivered workplace skills development programmes in the ICT sector for large corporations such as Cisco Technologies, Vodacom, Standard Bank, Hollard and Microsoft. “Since inception, the CoachLab® has had over 500 participants who were all successfully absorbed in the workplace industry,” he said.

THE INNOVATION HUB CELEBRATES GRADUATION OF 18 ENTREPRENEURS

During the 2018/19 financial year, the CoachLab programme trained and upskilled 18 Post graduates  and also placed 43 interns to host companies through its successful partnerships with various public and private sector companies, namely the State Information Technology Agency, the National Metrology Institute of South Africa, Mbula Research & Development, Information Delivery Systems and The Centre for the Built Environment, Pulego Technologies, Med-TechEngineers, GUD Holdings, Human Science Research Council.

Various speakers shared the podium at the graduation ceremony as they encouraged graduates to reach for the sky. Speakers included CoachLab® alumni, Ongkgopotse Mooke and Rebone Komane; State Information Technology Agency (SITA) Senior Manager for Innovation and Research, Rowena Suliman; South African Space Agency (SANSA) HR Officer, Methews Ramone and MICT SETA Learning Programmes Advisor, Nkosinathi Gabuza. The Innovation Hub Management Company Board Chairman, Dr Tshilidzi Ratshitanga and Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) Board Chairman, Ernest Mahlaule delivered the keynote address and vote of thanks, respectively.

The Innovation Hub’s Skills Development Unit run various youth development programmes that are aimed at tackling youth unemployment and addressing the issue of skills shortage.
