VW VIVONATION HITS RECORD NUMBERS
Vrrr-pah! Blind turns, drifting, and foot-flat hot laps by day, turned into twerking, vosho and bhenga by night. VW VIVOnation was lit!
From stage you’d see a mass of jiving bodies; fans soaking up the sun letting go to thumping house and hip-hop vibes. At the activations you’d see throngs of friends experiencing the Polo Vivo, either scream-laughing on YFM’s hair-raising autocross track or donning a prop and belting out tunes on camera whilst in a Vivo, all with the aim of winning a road trip weekend away.
Dwarfed by giant shipping containers, the inspired festival site was a maze of activity with cool things to do around every corner. From the shisa nyama to the beach bar, the graffiti car, Trace’s Silent disco and the elevated viewing deck, there was something for everyone and fans had the time of their lives.
The second instalment of Jozi’s hottest two-day music and lifestyle saw 8,000 ticket sales and the likes of Shane Eagle, DJ Kent, Simmy, Rouge, Sjava, Sho Madjozi, Busiswa, Mlindo The Vocalist and DJ Zan-D take to the stage. Headliner AKA nailed it, and loved it, Tweeting “VIVOnation set up looks insane” after his first set on the Friday night.
“We’re so pleased that we had a record turnout”, comments Meredith Kelly, Marketing Communications Manager of Volkswagen South Africa. “Whilst the Vivos and the line-up were of course a hit, it’s the city that we’ve constructed within a container yard that makes this festival so unique. We also took the opportunity to unveil the brand new Polo Vivo Sound Edition which will be available from the third quarter, is a celebration of the love of music as well as the success of the Polo Vivo brand in South Africa.
