The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) launched its election manifesto at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve, Pretoria yesterday. The party’s Commander in chief Julius Malema delivered a speech with its theme Our Land and Jobs now, the speech consists a description of what the EFF government will be like.
The Giant Stadium was covered in red with thousands of freedom fighters in attendance to listen to their leadership’s plan should they become government, the EFF is campaigning for a million vote in each province in order to become government. The party believes that it will be government whether local, regional or provincial.
Malema said he wants to apply the same methods that were used in Libya under the leadership Muammar Gaddafi. “We want a sovereign wealth fund”, he said to the crowd at the stadium.
He added that education will be free, one will be forced to go attend school and it will be technologically advanced under the EFF government. “Every child must have a tablet and iPod, education will be free and it be a must to go to school, should one be seen out of school then they will be forcefully taken to school in a police van.”
He then touched the issues of housing which President Cyril Ramaphosa referred to as “Better” compared to the apartheid regime. Malema said that there is no house in South Africa that should not have running water, a flushing toilet and electricity or else that is not human settlement.
On the issue of land, Malema pledged that he will be working with traditional leaders in order to assist with the distribution of land. The commander in chief also said that President Cyril Ramaphosa must pay the money (R500 000) stolen from BOSASA.
