Get Your Hands on the Limited-Edition Glenfiddich Grand Château 31-Year-Old Whisky
Whisky enthusiasts, collectors, and connoisseurs have a reason to celebrate as Glenfiddich announces the South African release of the highly anticipated Grand Château 31-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky.
Known for its rich heritage, craftsmanship, and innovative spirit, Glenfiddich brings to South Africa an exceptional offering – but with only 300 bottles available, it’s a race against time to secure this rare gem.
“The Grand Château is the pinnacle of Glenfiddich’s craftsmanship, offering whisky lovers a truly rare and luxurious experience and with a very limited quantity of bottles available for the entire South African market, we’re offering something that goes beyond taste – it’s a piece of whisky history,” says Lifa Bakana, Senior Brand Manager at Edward Snell & Co. “Each bottle is a celebration of innovation, heritage, and uncompromising quality.”
The Grand Château 31-Year-Old is the latest release in Glenfiddich’s renowned Grand Series, which blends traditional Scottish whisky-making with exceptional Bordeaux cask finishes. Aged for over three decades, the whisky has been further enhanced by a final maturation in French Bordeaux wine casks for 9 years, imparting an unforgettable complexity and depth of flavour.
Bakana adds that it’s a true investment in luxury. “At a retail price of R40,000 per bottle, the Grand Château 31-Year-Old is not just another whisky; it’s a collector’s item and a mark of prestige,” he explains. “Given the rarity and craftsmanship, Glenfiddich expects that the limited bottles will sell out quickly, with whisky collectors and investors alike vying for the opportunity to own this unique expression.”
- Nose: Warm cocooning vanilla slowly unveils fruity, floral notes.
- Taste: Indulgent and rich, flavours of slowly caramelised cherries and apples intertwine with an unmistakable warming spice and toasted oak.
- Finish: Everlasting depth and character.
- Colour: Distinctive reddish hue ABV 47.6% non-chill filtered.
“Through the celebration of heritage and innovation, Grand Château is an unexpected collision of cultures, as France meets Scotland,” Bakana adds. “In addition, Glenfiddich has partnered with internationally renowned French artist André Saraiva who has brought to life his street art style to visualise the Grand Château world onto the limited edition packaging.”
“Glenfiddich has long been known for pushing the boundaries of whisky-making, and the Grand Château whisky is a perfect reflection of this pioneering spirit,” he says. “The use of French wine casks introduces an entirely new dimension to the whisky, enhancing its character while maintaining the brand’s signature depth and quality.”
Bakana adds, “South African whisky drinkers have a deep appreciation for premium products, and Glenfiddich has consistently been the whisky of choice for those who demand the best. The Grand Château embodies everything Glenfiddich stands for – luxury, exclusivity, and extraordinary craftsmanship.”
