Create Memories And Experience The Joy of Food At Felice
The chic casual Felice, which derives its name from the Italian word meaning happiness, joy and pleasure, has created a space that caters to family and friends alike.
Felice’s menu or the heart of the establishment is the kitchen according to Chef Twain Mafoko who hails from Gaborone in Botswana – having grown up under the mentorship of his mother who owned a catering business. This helped him establish a broad palate and passion for food, inspired by his early memories of Asian influences in the food he ate growing up, such as soy and curry.
Having established himself as a financial manager and business owner in his home country. He packed his bags, made his peace and decided to come to the city of gold to pursue his passion of becoming a chef. Over more than a decade he went from being a student to the principal of the culinary school where his journey as a chef started and culminated in his appointment as head chef at Felice.
“I started my culinary journey later in life. There were people I was in class with who had 10 years of experience already. The food was looking nice but not tasting nice. For me food must have a soul when you cook you should have a sense and connection with what you are creating”, says the chef.
This is reflected in the balance between simplicity and creativity that coats your taste buds with a curious yet familiar taste. Chef Twain has assembled a team that has contributed greatly to the quality and vibrant taste of the food by making ingredients and dishes from scratch such as spice mixes, sauces and desserts.
Their dedication to quality and taste is reflected in Felice’s rich menu that celebrates African cuisine and allows patrons to taste a variety of cuisines from different parts of the world, such as Asia and Europe.
“I want to bring a little bit of the experiences from all the places I have travelled to. I want someone who is a regular here to experience something different every time they dine. Food is for eating but great food is for enjoyment”, the chef stated.
Whether it be their butter chicken curry, with a special spice mix and aromatic rice or the Asian bowl as a light meal, a tomahawk to share with their silky aromatic mash and pepper sauce, whole fish or a shisanyama platter. Felice has something even for the most discerning dinner.
